Is yoga REALLY that great?
"Brainy What-Why-How"
Your weekly nibble of brain-based tips to help you move and feel great!
🧠
What:
From your brain's perspective (the only perspective that matters!), MOST yoga is FREAKIN AWESOME.
But it depends on the way you practice...
If you like my blogs you'll love this:
FREE online workshop
"Yoga + Neurology: what you're already doing right, and what you're missing out on!"
Live on Sunday 4th August at 14:00 UTC
Recording will remain available until 30th September 2024 IF YOU SIGN UP

Why:
Three main reasons:
1️⃣ Mindfulness
Your brain is constantly filtering out information if it's not "important".
Being mindful of our breathing, our movements, our posture, helps the brain decide "okay this is important and worth remembering"*
2️⃣ The Breath
Most people don't breathe properly for optimal brain and body function, but yoga invites an opportunity to do that.*
3️⃣ Variety of movement
Even in a set sequence like Ashtanga, or a chill practice like yin...
you're still giving your brain more input about different positions of the body than a lot of everyday movements and sports allow for.
This is excellent for the brain, and therefore excellent for the overall person*
*But we can take this knowledge and make yoga EVEN BETTER:
Click here to join the upcoming FREE Neurology + Yoga Workshop
where I'll dive deeper into these 3️⃣ things
and share how we can approach this ancient practice through the lens of modern neuroscience
How:
It all comes down to the totally binary way the brain is wired:
everything is either deemed
"Safe"
or
"Threatening"
and the more our brain feels SAFE, the better we feel!
(see my YouTube video "Two things about the brain I wish more people knew" for more on this!)
