Why:

Studies looking at how to train muscles for different things have found that:

• for LEARNING, our muscles better connect to the brain when shortened, but

• for GAINING STRENGTH, our muscles adapt faster when held in their lengthened forms.

How:

For this reason, it could be most effective to 

1️⃣  first train a muscle in its shortened form 🧠 

2️⃣ Then load it while it's stretched. I demonstrate how this could look ​for the hip flexors in this 13-second video​
