What:

Movement is like food; we need a balanced diet of different movements. 

And if different movements are like different nutrients, then hip circles are surely like vitamin C —that one that we all can benefit from and it’s kinda hard to have too much! 

Why?

Like vitamin C helps your immune system keep you healthy, hip circles just make your whole body feel better! 

Doing deliberate, controlled movements such as a circle (but you could do figure 8s, or just keep it linear) through your hip joint helps your brain's map of that joint become clearer. 

Clear maps = your brain feels safer = your brain allows you to move better overall.

How:

There are two ways to practice these (which I demonstrate HERE)

1️⃣ Open Chain: which makes for a great balance challenge too if done standing up like (because you're perturbing yourself, and thus having to work harder to stay balanced)

2️⃣ Closed Chain: meaning your feet making contact with the earth, so you’ll need to pay close attention to the movement and ensure it’s coming from the hip joint and not elsewhere in the body.
