The easiest balance drill to add to a yoga practice ever...
"Brainy What-Why-How"
Your weekly nibble of brain-based tips to help you move and feel great!
ðŸ§
What:
Your vestibular system (the part of your brain that senses which way is up and what direction you're moving in) is like any other part of the body:
USE IT OR LOSE IT
And when you lose it, you're looking at difficulty moving through life with ease and comfort!
One drill for this system is stupid-easy to throw into just about any yoga class.
Why:
You probably spend a lot of time with your head facing forwards, and you probably move mostly forwards and a little up and down.
Unless you're a geek like me, and you walk backwards and sideways, with your head tilted in different positions, looking like an absolute weirdo and not worried about it at all 😉
But arguably THE BEST way to add some variety to your head movements (and thus exercising your vestibular system and keeping it strong and active) is in your yoga practice.
Because yoga = mindful focus with a calm breath, and your brain loves that.
How:
Any time you're moving your arm, just keep your eyes focused on your thumb, letting your head move to follow your thumb.
