Hypermobility hacks EVERY mover should steal

"Brainy What-Why-How"

Your weekly nibble of science-backed goodness to help you move better and feel unstoppable.

🧠

What:

What hypermobile people NEED

....is good for everyone.

Why:

🦼 Think of it like a wheelchair ramp: essential for wheelchair users, but also handy for anyone wrangling a pram, dragging a suitcase, or just too lazy to find the stairs.

Same thing here: the kinds of movement and brain activation that bendy people must do are actually beneficial for all bodies.

Here's the thing: bendy people’s “issues” are all about—you guessed it—the brain.

  • Stretching past safe limits? That “stop there!” signal never makes it from joint to brain.

  • Dizzy when you stand up? The brain gets the memo too late, so blood pressure lags.

  • Bruises, gut drama, anxiety, random tight-as-a-drum muscles in an otherwise bendy body? Yep—still the brain.

It’s always the brain. Always.

How:

Strength training and active stretching.

Add load (even if it's just a couple of ankle weights in your yoga practice to begin with!),

and keeping your muscles active through full range of motion,

you're increasing the information INPUT to the brain. Therefore, the brain makes a different interpretation, and you get a different OUTPUT

It's basic neurology: change the input, get a different output.

It's vital for a hypermobile body to feed the brain what it's missing which causes joint instability, dizziness, clumsiness, and more...

And it's useful for the non-bendies, much like that wheelchair ramp 😉

Move with Adell is getting a little workshop this week: Bendy Bodies: Understanding & Thriving with Hypermobility

🇵🇱 I am also teaching a Hypermobility Workshop in KRAKOW next month

Do you strength train? If not, why not? Let me know, I'm doing research 🔬 🧐
