Found: your brain’s favourite hangout

"Brainy What-Why-How"

Your weekly nibble of science-backed goodness to help you move better and feel unstoppable.

🧠

What:

Have you heard of "third spaces"?

Home = first space.

Work = second space.

Third space = the place that keeps you sane.

For me, it’s the gym.

That’s why I actually stick with strength training -- I love being at my gym to see familiar faces and have a bit of banter, even if I'm not feeling excited for the workout I'm there to do.

Yours might be a yoga studio, climbing wall, café… or anywhere you escape the home–work hamster wheel.

Why:

Because third spaces are your brain’s love language

  • Fellow weirdos = safety. Being around people who “get it” tells your nervous system to chill → suddenly you can lift heavier, bend deeper, move easier.

  • Habit on autopilot. Walk into your third space and boom—your brain flips into training mode (or whatever you do in your third space). No willpower required.

  • Co-regulation station. Even a smile across the room lowers your brain’s threat alarms.

  • Playground vibes. Novelty = neuroplasticity. Translation: you learn faster, adapt quicker, and have more fun.

Science backs it: third spaces keep us regulated, consistent, and less likely to lose our minds (or our motivation).

How:

Find yours.

Dog park, dance studio, book club—doesn’t matter. Your brain just needs a regular hangout where it feels safe + switched on.

And if you fancy a third space where we move, learn, and gossip about nerves?

My workshops are basically that with extra sass -- come hang out IRL!

So—what’s your third space? Get in touch and spill, I love snooping on people’s brain hangouts,
