Why your Brain LOVES nasal breathing

Are you breathing through your nose right now? Hope so!

🧠

What:

Breathing through the nose,

rather than the mouth (or any other way to breathe that I haven't been acquainted with ðŸ¤”)

is what makes your brain happiest.

Yet still too many of us humanoids breathe through our mouths...

Why:

Nasal breathing is well known to be beneficial for all sorts of reasons*

But one reason the brain--arguably the most important organ--loves it is because your brain needs two types of fuel to survive: glucose and oxygen.

If it's not getting enough oxygen, it'll start putting out threat responses like fatigue, pain, and anxiety, just to name a few.

How:

Nasal breathing helps us keep our breathing slow and this prevents breathing OUT too much.

I'm sure you're aware that when we exhale, we breathe out CO2.

But we need that CO2 in our bloodstream to help deliver Oxygen molecules to our cells -- including our brain cells.

So all you have to do is keep your mouth closed, and your body takes care of the rest to make sure your brain gets optimal levels of oxygen to perform its manifold functions!
