How to ACTUALLY learn to fall confidently
"Brainy What-Why-How"
Your weekly nibble of brain-based tips to help you move and feel great!
🧠
What:
I cannot teach you to fall confidently from a handstand online.
I try (and I have a new YouTube video out with 2 tips for learning to fall confidently) but...
Why:
At my last two handstand retreats, I helped a lot of my participants get over the fear of falling.
As I went through this process with them, I saw that for them, their brain was (rightly*!) too powerfully AGAINST letting them fall...
to simply take some tips and drills from a video on the internet.
As I spotted them, holding them safely and securely, I felt their body FIGHTING me.
This is such a testament to the power of the brain keeping us safe!
It was only through repetition, over days, of me holding them while they felt the balance, and felt the sensation of falling out...
and slowly giving a lighter and lighter touch to my spot...
that they were able to rewrite this deeply engrained fear of falling, into a trust in the process.
I've had similar experiences with my handstand journey -- sometimes you just need a coach who can PHYSICALLY spot you!!
How:
If you're ready to learn how to feel safe upside down on your hands (and it's such a spiritual experience too!),
and you're fed up with not getting anywhere from online videos,
I highly recommend training in person with a coach (ideally ME!!! At my next handstand retreat!)

Learning to fall is so much more than learning to fall. It's learning about yourself, beyond your physical abilities. It's BEAUTIFUL.
You are beautiful,
