Hard things are the whole point 💥
"Brainy What-Why-How"
Your weekly nibble of science-backed goodness to help you move better and feel unstoppable.
🧠
What:
Hormesis: science’s way of saying, “Suck it up, buttercup.”
It means that the right kind of stress, in the right dose, actually makes you stronger 💪
Not broken.
Not burnt out.
Just a little like, “oooo spicy” 🌶️
Think: post-workout soreness.
Or your pride after this yoga class👋🏽 Come play.)
Why:
Because your brain's main goal? Keep you comfy.
It’s wired for homeostasis: steady, predictable, sweat pants forever.
But the world? LOL.
The world’s giving main character energy… in a disaster movie 😵💫
Being human right now is next-level.
And if we never practice doing hard things — on purpose — we’re toast when life serves us the uninvited kind of "hard", like standing up bullies.
But when we train for challenge?
We don’t break.
We stretch.
We recover.
We get stronger and sassier 💅
This is why yoga works. It prepares you for all of life's challenges, in all the forms it might show up in.
How:
Start with little doses of “oof”:
Show up to that spicy class that scares you a little 🧘🏽♀️🔥
Take the gentler option even when your ego’s screaming “Go big or go home!”
Say the awkward, honest thing 💓
Choose the better habit (even when Netflix and Pringles are giving you the come-hither eyes 👀)
Reminder:
Discomfort ≠ failure.
It’s your body and brain saying, “Ooh, we’re levelling up.”
Bottom line:
You’re not here to coast.
You’re here to grow, adapt, and casually crush it.
Let it be hard. That’s how you build power.
